One of the top recommended targeted industries that would be a good fit for Cumberland County is fabricated metal product manufacturing.

That industry was recommended by Sharon Younger of Younger Associates of Jackson, TN, after a targeted industry analysis and workforce development strategy study of Cumberland County was performed by the group.

The study was part of the Horizon Initiative and Younger and Associates was hired in February of this year by the Crossville Cumberland County Chamber of Commerce.

Examples of a fabricated metal product manufacturing companies include a powder metallurgy part manufacturing company, a heavy gauge a metal tank manufacturing company, or a metal valve manufacturing company.

"The results of this study have been a long time coming," Brad Allamong, director of the Crossville Cumberland County Chamber of Commerce, said.

Other top recommendations included electrical equipment component manufacturing and motor vehicle manufacturing, for mid-term to long-term target company. Examples of those would be motor vehicle electrical and electronic equipment manufacturing companies, steering and suspension component manufacturing companies, or motor transmission and power train part manufacturing companies.

Other top industries recommended included wood product manufacturing and non-metallic mineral product manufacturing including concrete block and brick manufacturing and ceramics manufacturing.

Younger said the study also included a list of potential companies that are involved in the industries and their contact information would be passed along to the Crossville-Cumberland County Chamber of Commerce and county and city mayors.
